In the event of doubt as to the interpretation of the scope of an arbitration clause, a restrictive interpretation affirming state jurisdiction must be preferred, given that the referral of a dispute to arbitrators entails a derogation from ordinary jurisdiction. The favour for arbitral jurisdiction under art. 808 quater of the Code of Civil Procedure refers solely to the quantification of the subject matter referred to arbitrators and not to the choice to submit disputes to arbitration.
